Sarawak Entrepreneur of the Year Awards

Organised by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak in association with Sarawak Chamber of Commerce & Industry and EY, this prestigious Awards Programs ("EOYS") was first launched in 2004 and is held annually to honour and acknowledge exceptional entrepreneurial talent and leadership. Up to last year, over 70 entrepreneurs from all over Sarawak have been given this recognition.

EOYS Aims

Recognise the success of up and coming entrepreneurs, who through their ingenuity, ideas, resourcefulness, commitment and hard work, have built their businesses which contributed to the growth of our Sarawak’s economy;
Recognise the best in business in Sarawak, i.e. the prime movers that drive Sarawak’s path towards economic growth;
Encourage the growth of small and medium scale industries in Sarawak.

Awards Categories

Emerging Entrepreneur
Business is between 2 to 5 years old or entrepreneur is aged 35 or under at the time of close of nomination
Master Entrepreneur
Maintained management excellence over a sustained period, business founded more than 5 years ago
Excellent Entrepreneur
Running a successful business in Malaysia or overseas

Emphasis is on the individual’s attributes over the Company’s and in general covers amongst others:

Demonstration of outstanding leadership;
Company milestones with consideration of industry obstacles and each entrepreneur's ability to overcome diversity;
Corporate culture, values and incentives;
Financial performance and growth records;
CSR, reputation and contribution to the community that demonstrate the characteristics of a good model corporate citizen;
Resilience in adapting to the business disruptions; and
Embracing technology to enhance efficiency and transformation in the business

For the recipients of this award, EOYS is an opportunity to network with business peers as well as have access to valuable media coverage, raising personal and company profile. More importantly, be recognised for the success.

In the past, the EOYS Adjudicating Committee have nominated recipients of the EOYS Awards to represent Sarawak at the Malaysia Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (“EOY”) Awards. Nominated, the entrant has access to a range of events to hel the entrant’s company achieve its potential as well as the opportunity to join a group of illustrious alumni.

Submission Checklist

Duly completed and signed Nomination Form
DOWNLOAD FORM (2024)
Prepare the following documents:
- Audited financial statements for the three most recent financial years
- An introductory piece of the Nominee (not the Company Background) in not more than 500 words, to be used for media and promotional purposes.
  (The organisers reserve full discretion on the usage of this introductory piece and has the right to make amendments as and when necessary)
- High resolution portrait photo of the Nominee
  (Should be a good business style shot against a solid background)
- Copy of NRIC
- Business Card
