Understanding the Role of Ombudsman Sarawak

30 March 2026 • SBF Office

The Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) organised a sharing session titled “Understanding the Role of Ombudsman Sarawak” on 30 March 2026. The session was presented by Mr Albert Tang, Deputy President of SCCI, who also serves as a member of Ombudsman Sarawak and is a legal practitioner with over three decades of experience. Also in attendance were Datu Buckland Bangik of Ombudsman Sarawak and SBF President, Dato Sri Abang Haji Abdul Karim.

The session provided an overview of Ombudsman Sarawak as an independent body that handles complaints on maladministration in public services. Mr Tang outlined its role in receiving and reviewing complaints, and making recommendations to improve accountability and administrative practices.

Members also gained insight into the complaint process and how the Ombudsman serves as a practical avenue for addressing issues with government agencies. SBF will be bringing this topic to its regions as part of the upcoming regional roadshow in April.
